It wasn't such a bad commute today...I seemed to have missed all the accidents this morning and people were actually driving a more normal speed today as well...not so many hard stops and slow starts. Nice. Happy Last Day of November 2011!

Had to get gas and eat my cereal in the car today because I didn't read an email letting me know that my 9 a.m. meeting was changed to later...traffic was a pain, however, not too bad. Nothing too exciting happened today. I thought the skies were going to open and rain down....they did not. The mouse in my office ate all the peanut butter off the traps that were set...

So...it's hard to go back to work after almost a week away...it was so nice to be gone. I saw a lot of friends and spent good time with the fam...nice Thanksgiving holiday. There was an accident today that blocked the inner and outer loops. Yikes! I thought it was going to be easy going...not today. Arrived at 9:12 a.m.

This is my last official blog posting before the Thanksgiving holiday when I commute the farthest, via airplane, back to OH. Good times. It was a lovely morning. Sunny at my house and foggy, gross rainy when I got to work. Maryland is so strange sometimes. Grateful for the ability to drive and have a working vehicle still. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

It's sunny and blue skies today! I think that helped everyone drive more quickly and smoothly...at least that's what I'm going to believe. The holidays are coming and people are going to be leaving town soon...including me. So, my commutes won't be as adventurous...maybe my holiday travels will. Whole wheat english muffin with country crock on one side and cruncy peanut butter on the other...yum!

My water meter has been successfully converted and I learned something new about how I get charged for water usage. What a great day.

Early morning meeting means having to leave early, which means my commute seems a bit normal. Fascinating. Been in meetings ALL day, so that's why I'm posting at almost 4 p.m.

My very early Tuesday morning was cancelled today, so I took my time leaving the house and hit a ridiculous amount of traffic due to a really bad accident on the outer loop near 795, which caused all of the inner loop to look at it. Once we got passed the accident, literally, the road was mine. Also, it wasn't so bad sitting there because I knew that I wasn't going to be late for anything. My level of calmness was perfect. I sort of wish every morning was like that.

Two disable vehicles were on the beltway today...right when I start my trip. I had to bail again, hoping that my other route wasn't blocked and I was quite lucky. A twenty-minute detour allowed me to make it to work before 9 a.m. today...amazing, really. Since it's getting a bit colder, although strangely not this morning, I decided to eat oatmeal this morning. It's always a nice warm treat on the commute.

I actually didn't leave my neighborhood until 8:12 because there was road work being done on all the streets that let me out of my neighborhood. It let me eat part of my breakfast while I waited, which was nice.
On another note, it's a federal holiday and that means my commute is AWESOME! I love being on the road when others aren't...driving a reasonable speed and getting to work in a normal time amount that I think the majority of the country can understand. So nice. Put those math skills to use and be really happy for me people.

Since I was doing Bikram this morning instead of Friday and because traffic has been a little stupid this week, I decided to leave at a decent hour and it really only took the 45 minutes it should have taken. Lovely. My bagel breakfast sandwich was also really good this morning and I loved the songs on the radio. It's a good day.

So this morning there was a disabled vehicle near Wilkins Ave., so I quickly left the beltway and exited onto 95 south (this was before I knew what all the problems were) and took my chances with 70. It was glorious. I'm not sure if it saved me that much more time or not, however, it sure felt like it. The morning show was talking about everyone's good news and I felt like the traffic was flowing well (after the quick change in commute plans). Also, my everything bagel was delicious this morning.

Stupid semi-truck fire that blocked all of the southwest part of the beltway...no easy access from any point. I took a bunch of different routes only to find that the all my usually ways were blocked. Yuck.

Stupid blog site won't let me download my pictures today. Boo! ha ha I switched internet products and now I can download them. Woosh.
The commute was fairly good today, including getting gas and having to deal with a little bit of traffic...it was on the lower end of the loop instead of the upper. That's a change. I also walked into my office this morning to a nasty stench. Turns out the mouse traps I had put in my office in August caught a mouse this weekend. Now I am just waiting for them to be removed.

What a happy, glorious commute I had to work today. After last night's drive home, I was a bit worried and now am so relaxed from a nice drive to work. I think it helped me rock my Bikram class today...thinking about doing it twice a week now...am I crazy?

I got to work at 9:15 because people were caught in dumb traffic and an accident along 83 north, which always causes the rest of the beltway to stop functioning properly. Whatever, it was all good. Jack FM was playing hits from the early 80s. Gotta love that.

Today was our Good Morning Commuters program for the students who commute to school. I left early so I could make it bright and early at 8:30 for the students. My co-worker and I got some bonding time in because the first didn't arrive until about 8:50 a.m. Still nice to be up and about. I learned that traffic isn't really that much better before 8 a.m. No dead animals on the commute this morning...that was nice. It's been a while since I've had to be on the road before 8 a.m., so it was a nice reminder that commutes can be long at any time of day.

A bit more traffic and some stop and go along the way today. I had to stop for gas, which I realized caused me to hit the later traffic and not be as smooth a drive as I would have liked. Also, there was more traffic on the outer loop because of an animal hit by a driver! Why are all these animals coming on the beltway lately? Poor things...I hope they stop running towards traffic soon. Maybe we should plant more trees.
