Day 157

Time I left home:

This commute was one of the most frustrating of the semester.  I got to route 40 and the traffic just went along at 15 mph the entire rest of the commute.  We are doing a brunch meeting for my birthday (which was 29 days ago) today, so I only had an apple for my commute:

It's fuzzy because I took it while driving...yes, I'm doing bad things on this commute.  So many people around me were on their phones or texting because the traffic was so slow.  It turns out that there was a broken down work truck that was blocking the right lane...that was the reason for this long morning.  Ugh.

Time I got to work:

Friday, April 27, 2012

Day 156

Time I left home:

This is one of the latest times I've ever written about my commute (it's almost 6 p.m. now!)...I feel as though this morning was two days ago and it wasn't.  It was my last day of teaching a course in preparation for Scotland and we did the class off-campus, so while I still did my usual commute to the office, it was different.  Egg breakfast sandwich was eaten on the drive and it was smooth sailing from there.

Time I got to work:

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Day 155

Time I left home:

Looking at these times, you are probably feeling really sorry for me right now.  Alas, dear reader, do not feel sorry for me.  I had my car worked on today.  She was up for her 165,000 maintenance and I thought after the way this semester has been going, it was time to take a morning off and get the car fixed up.  It allowed me to get some things done.  That being said...getting to work was an adventure this morning.  The normal entrance of the beltway was blocked by police and work crews and I was detoured through neighborhoods I didn't even know existed (Violetsville?!) and ended up on 95 and going through the city to 83 before getting onto 695 towards Towson.  It was truly an adventure.  I can't even imagine what that would have been like if I had been commuting during my normal time!

Time I got to work:

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Day 154

Time I left home:

I have later meetings today, so I took my time leaving the house.  I woke up pretty hungry so I made a double egg breakfast sandwich with cheese and egg hot dog buns.  It was really nice.  The traffic was also heavier than usual for a Wednesday and I think people were more cautious of construction because of all the rain we've had lately.  I still made fairly good timing given all that...

Time I made it to work:

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Day 153

Time I left home:

There was a fairly big accident near 795 this morning that caused me to be running a little bit later than I'd like.  The early part of the beltway was clear and then things got caught up along the way.  It's always interesting to hear the traffic report tell me everything is fine and then 20 minutes later, it isn't.  Two fried eggs and coffee joined me for the commute this morning.

Time I arrived on campus:

Monday, April 23, 2012

Day 152

Time I left home:

The rain and the lack of sun made everyone have accidents today.  Quite a lot of ambulances and police cars all over the place.  It made for an interesting commute; not really anything particular to talk about...just a lot time and  people getting hurt.  Unfortunately.

Time I got to work:

Friday, April 20, 2012

Day 151

Time I left home:

I left a little later because it's going to be a long day at work...until 1 a.m. or so.  I thought sleeping in was a little better than getting to work on time.  La la.  The drive was pretty good...a bit more traffic on the road than I was expecting.  It's Friday and it's sunny.  That's important.

Time I got to work:

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Day 150!

Time I left home:

Another fairly nice commute to work today.  There, however, was a mercedes that was behind me and because of the nonsense in front of me, almost hit me.  It was a beautiful swirl the car did, although, I don't think the guy driving the car would say that it was beautiful.  He was probably freaking out.  The Honda Insight in front of me was being very wishy washy in the style of driving and I think it was causing a lot of headaches behind me...Good times.  2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast and Bikram as a wake-up :>

Time I got to work:

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Day 149

Time I left home:

Not too bad a morning commute, I must say.  The traffic was heavy in the first part of the drive, however, no one got into any accidents on my side of the world, so things went fairly smoothly.  Enjoyed the same breakfast as yesterday, with walnuts instead of pecans.

Time I got to work:

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Day 148

Time I left home:

I got arrive a little bit later this morning due to a change in morning meetings, which I thought might be helpful for the commute.  It wasn't.  The construction caused a bit of trouble as well as the car that broke down in the middle of the first construction zone.  I felt bad for them.  Luckily, I had some good radio show to listen to and a pretty blue sky.

Time I got to work:

Since I haven't shown my breakfast in a while, I thought I would share what I ate this morning: vanilla yogurt, Smart Start cereal, pecans, and a banana.  It was delightful.

Day 147

Time I left home:

The commute was rough this morning...lots of construction and accidents this morning. After working and not going to sleep until 2 a.m. it was a rough morning...I can't say more than that; although, I did get an egg mcmuffin with sausage for breakfast.

Time I got to work:

Friday, April 13, 2012

Day 146

Time I left home:

Another Friday, another day at Bikram, anothe breakfast eaten in the car on the drive.  Delightfully, this commute was not bad...people were moving and all the accidents and construction were not in my way.  Two eggs, matzah, and water for breakfast this morning.  It was a nice, yet cold morning...maybe that helped?

Time I arrived at work:

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Day 145

Time I left home:

It was gas-getting day and I ended up leaving my house a bit later than I expected.  It all worked out fine though, as my commute was delightful.  I enjoyed eggs again this morning and wish I had a picture of them because they were perfectly done.  Yes!  Coffee on the commute too.

Enjoy this cloudy Wednesday...

Time I arrived at work:

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Day 144

Time I left home:

I got a bit worried about traffic today since yesterday was bad...I left early so I wouldn't be late for my meeting today and surprisingly, everything went smoothly.  I enjoyed some nicely cooked eggs on my commute in addition to getting coffee when I made it to work.  Nice.

Time I got to work:

Monday, April 9, 2012

Day 143

Time I left home:

The normal commute has returned...although, for unexpected reasons.  There was a semi that turned over between 95 and 70 this morning, pouring asphalt all over the highway.  That was interesting.  I left early enough (because of a 9 a.m. meeting today) that I didn't get to hear traffic and so I had to do the major relooping experience: 95S to 29 to 70 to 695...brings back old memories.  I luckily got to work just in time for my meeting...eating matzah and a banana for breakfast along the way.

Time I got to work:

Friday, April 6, 2012

Day 142

Time I left home:

I've been spoiled by the spring break and today's holiday.  The commutes has been ever so lovely this week and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to be in good spirits when everyone returns next week...We shall see.  It was a bit of a rush today getting out of the house because I knew many people would be on holiday.  I made it and got to work just in time to head to Bikram and start my normal Friday routine.  Good times had by all.

Time I got to work:

Thursday, April 5, 2012

Day 141

Time I left home:

Another beautiful commuting day in Baltimore.  I cannot complain about this week...it's so nice to have a smooth drive into work.  Even while being tired, I can tell that people are just a bit nicer this week.  I mixed it up by listening to a couple different radio stations this morning and heard "Caress Me Down" by Sublime for the first time in years.  I cannot believe it was on the radio.  Good times had by all.  I had the same breakfast sandwich I've been eating all week...coffee was good too.

Time I got to work:

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Day 140

Time I left home:

So I just realized this morning that it's spring break for many of the schools in the area, Easter and Passover are coming up this weekend...makes so much more sense about why my commute has been delightful the past couple days.  So much more sense.

Time I got to work:

Also, for those of you who like to see what I eat in the morning...here's the breakfast sandwich I've been making this week.  I'm gonna get creative next week... ;>

Day 139

Time I left home:

I was up and at 'em this morning. No messing around with the traffic today.  See that little toy sticking out...that's my new addition to my car.  It's a little crab.  I won him at a conference I was at last week.  He likes how I drive.

I had a breakfast sandwich this morning and it helped the drive go by quickly.  Traffic, while seemingly horrible based on what the radio was telling me, turned out to be pretty normal.  I actually got to work before my meeting started!

Time I got to work:

Monday, April 2, 2012

Day 138

Happy April!  I have returned from a nutty March month of travels without commuting and feel a sadness of not having delivered my adventures on the roads of Maryland.  Well, dear friends, April brings many things...rain, my birthday, warm weather, and the return to my stories of the road.

Today, I left at:

I enjoyed a delicious double egg, muenster cheese, english muffin sandwich on the commute this morning.  One of the eggs was a little underdone and I had to fight the dripping egg down my hand...only two drops got on my coat (what?!  A coat!  nutty, nutty April).

Construction has changed since my last time on the beltway and there is definitely more of it.  That means Tuesdays are going to be even more difficult.
