Day 176

Time I left home:

Smooth sailing on the commute this morning.  Maple and brown sugar oatmeal on the road. Coffee in hand.  It's going to be another busy day...

Time I got to work:

Day 175

It's the start of the whirlwind summer, which means that I may not have much time to blog about my daily commute.  I know, right?  Seems odd during the summer to have that issue...tis the nature of working in orientation.

Yesterday, I left at:

The commute wasn't so bad...it was a bit busy, but with the holiday having been the day before, people weren't really back.  Made life a bit easier and I got to be in the office a bit before my full day began.

Yesterday, I got to work at:

Today, I left home at:

The air conditioning is still not working in my house, so I made some phone calls this morning in order to get it up and running again.  Luckily, it rained last night, so my house was in the 80s, but still...it can be hard to sleep.  I had honey nut cheerios and milk both days.

Day 174

Time I left home:

Commute felt really good this morning.  I went the long way because I had heard traffic was somewhat bad on the drive; turns out it really wasn't. That's what is nice about a holiday weekend :>

Time I arrived at work:

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Day 173

Time I left home:

All day meeting today, so I'm really late in posting this.  Commute was good, nothing too exciting to write about.  Plus, it feels like it was so long ago that I cannot remember the details.  Good times.

Time I got to work:

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Day 172

Time I left home:

The commute wasn't so bad this morning, although for the time I left home, I think it took a little bit longer than I would have liked.  What can you do?  It was a dark morning, hard to get out of bed, and my cat wanted to cuddle with me.  How could I turn that down?  Yep, bad professional today.

I made oatmeal for the road and drove along.  Everyone was fairly pleasant despite the rain that could have happened at any moment...

Day 171

Time I left home:

It was a strange commute today because the weather was a bit off and not quite what I was expecting...needless to say, it was a nice commute, even though it was gray and a little sad outside.  I made the last of the yogurt, granola, banana mixture and it was much more delicious today.  Perhaps that is the theme for this Tuesday...

Day 170

Time I left home:

It was raining this morning, so the commute was a bit crowded and not that interesting.  Most people were cautious today and we went along as best we could despite the rain.  I made yogurt with granola and banana today.  It was good, but not as good as I wanted it to be.  Ah well.  Tis life sometimes.

Day 169

Time I left home:

It's Commencement day at work, so I had to park in a different lot than usual.  It makes for my arrival picture to look different...nice.  The traffic was okay today...many accidents all over the place, however, only 2 were on my route and were off to the side by the time I was on the road.  I made another delicious breakfast sandwich since I won't be eating lunch until later this afternoon.  Must be in good form for the graduates.

Time I arrived at work:

Thursday, May 17, 2012

Day 168

Time I left home:

Today's commute was fairly typical, I believe.  Many people on the road, sunshine coming through the window, and lots of stop-and-go.  I had oatmeal this morning...great way to start the day.  Good times had by all.  Oh, I almost got hit by two SUVs at the same time, both turning into the lanes of the road and not being able to go anywhere.  That was awesome.

Time I got to work:

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Day 167

I forgot to take a picture of the time I left home today.  I know, right?  I was so distracted by how early I was ready and the fact that I have poison ivy again, that I just left my house and started driving without even thinking about it.  I made a delicious breakfast sandwich today...english muffin, muenster cheese, and an egg.  The english muffins were freshly made at the store and I must say are delicious.  It's a nice treat.

The drive was delightful and took much less time than it has all week to get to campus.  Of course it would.  My meetings don't start until 10 a.m. on Wednesdays.  Of course, it would be delightful.  Oh well.

Day 166

Time I left home:

The commute stunk this morning.  I got on the beltway just in time to sit there for a really long time and then I bailed and made my way back to my house, around the suburbs, and back on the beltway.  Then, we got stopped again (the other was due to an accident and I hope all involved are okay) and there were 4 stalled vehicles on that portion of the beltway, including one in the middle of the left lane.  There were two huge men walking towards the car and I know they were going to help the people move the car, which was awesome.  I was focused on trying to make it to my 9 a.m. meeting though.  Good work guys.

Time I got to work:

Monday, May 14, 2012

Day 165

Time I left home:

So, I'm packing up my car to get ready to leave the house (earlier than usual, mind you) and the next thing I know, my amazing carrying skills left me and my delicious oatmeal fell from my arms, landed on my foot, and dropped to the ground, landing on my front stoop and door frame.  The ants loved me this morning.  The bowl shattered and all the oatmeal fell in one big pile.  I had to spend about 6 minutes taking care of that mess, making more oatmeal, and repacking my car.  Then I was on the road.
The oatmeal was delicious and well-deserved.

Traffic was not too bad...typically rainy day drive.  Got to work in fairly decent time.

Day 164

Time I left home:

Today's commute was the best of the week, I believe.  On top of it all, it's Friday, which is always a happy day.  Everyone was cruising along with a smile on their face and no one was mean or driving really badly.  A nice day overall.  I, once again, enjoyed cheerios at home.

Time I got to work:

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Day 163

Time I left home:

It was almost an hour commute today.  Boo!  Basically from the moment I got on the beltway to the moment I turned into work, I was in traffic, bumper-to-bumper.  The only time that didn't happen was during the construction zones!  What?! I mean, really.  How does that work?  Usually, everyone likes to take their time and go slowly through the construction zones, looking at everyone working and building bridges and such.  Today, we didn't care so much about that because all the other parts of the road were blocked.  Completely strange and weird.

I'm enjoying a late breakfast today to celebrate the last day of exams and a few weeks of a normal 9-5 work day before June appears and life as a college administrator returns to normal.  Then it's freedom again...

Time I got to work:

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

Day 162

Time I left home:

That says "8:18" by the way.  Another interesting, rainy, commute this morning.  People were cruising along and being their usual selves.  There's something funky in the air this week, I think, because of all the rain.  People are calmer somehow, as though it doesn't matter that we're all stuck together because we know that people drive slower when it's raining outside.  Good times.  Had honey nut cheerios at home before I left and since I have to go grocery shopping, I got coffee at work.  Yum.

Time I got to work:

Day 161

Time I left home:

I had more of an exciting commute today, because I was delivering a table and chairs to my friend.  She lives up near work and I brought them to her instead of going directly into the office today.  I enjoyed a nice Nature Valley Peanut Bar on my drive and we had coffee once I delivered the table.  I got stuck around Park Heights for a few minutes and then things got moving again...there was a bit semi on the left side of the road and another little truck and person was there helping him out.  The 83 roadwork is causing a bit of a delay too, however, it wasn't so bad this morning.  I love when things are a little different, yet the same.  A good day.

Time I got to my friends':
On another note, the commute from my friend's apartment to campus took 3 minutes.  Yep, she's that close.  By the time I parked, it took my 6 minutes.  It was like I was working at Virginia Tech again...

Day 160

Time I left home:

I actually have commuted a few more times than this recently, however, didn't document the dates since they weren't on regular commuting days and I wasn't sure things would be as exciting as they can be in the morning.  Today's commute, ironically, was really nice.  The traffic from last week didn't exist and I was able to get to campus in a normal amount of time.  We were stopped up near Greenspring, as usual, and people were quite nice about trying to get by.  I had honey nut cheerios and milk before I left the house.  I forget how nice cereal can be in the morning.

Time I got to work:

Friday, May 4, 2012

Day 159

Time I left home:

Enjoyed a fairly nice commute this morning despite the fog and rain that was in the area.  People were driving really well and taking care of themselves, which was nice.  We stopped in the usually places (between Greenspring and the 83s) and then moved quickly towards Towson.  I enjoyed an English Muffin on the drive.

Day 158

Time I left home:

I've been slacking on taking pictures and commenting about my commute because of the kind of work days I've had lately.  It's the end of the academic year and everything tends to happen very quickly.  I have been finding that I'm more tired lately and not doing things as quickly or as easily as I usually do...therefore, I'm becoming a bit more slack on things.  That being said, I was supposed to take a half day off today and because of the time, students are making meetings with me nonstop.  Therefore, I got to sleep in for two hours longer than usual and arrived to campus about 1 1/2 hours later than usual.  The sleep definitely helped.  I also got to enjoy breakfast a bit more...two egg breakfast sandwich with cheese.  Yum.
